This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business by Gray's Inn Gate, Holborn, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1236; Obv inscription: BY.GRASING.GATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.K and three fleur-de-lis (intials in Roman capitals on either side of fleur-de-lis, in field); Rev inscription: IN.HOLBORN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A pair of scales (in field).
Gray's Inn Gate, lay to the south of Gray's Inn, in Holborn, Middlesex. The area of Gray's Inn, now lies in the London Borough of Camden.
