The Pair of Scales
John Jones issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business near Gray's Inn Gate, Holborn, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1235; Obv incription: IOHN.IONES.IN.HOLBORN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A pair of scales (in field); Rev inscription: NEER.GRAYES.IN.GATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
