The Fleur de Lis and Rose
Joseph Higgs, a confectioner, issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business against Gray's Inn Gate, Holborn, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1234; Obv inscription: IOSEPH. HIGGS. CONFECTIONER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A fleur-de-lis, a rose and I.A.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals around signs, in field); Rev inscription: AGAINST / GRAIS. IN / GATE. IN / HOLBORN / HIS. HALF / PENY (in six lines of cursive script, in field).
