The Crown
James Watkins issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the Crown tavern in Cow Cross (now St John Street), Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 761; Obv inscription: IAMES.WATKINS.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = An arched crown (in field); Rev inscription: CROWN.IN.COWCROSSE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.I.W. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
