The Cheesemonger ?
John Hammond, a cheesemonger issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in Cow Cross (now St John Street), Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 754; Obv inscription: IOHN.HAMMOND (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = CHEES / MONGER (in two lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: AT.COW.CROSS.1667 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.H A pile of cheeses (initials in Roman capitals either side of sign, in field).
