The Rose and Crown
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Rose and Crown tavern in Covent Garden, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 741; Obv inscription: AT.THE.ROSE.AND.CROWN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A rose crowned (in field); Rev inscription: IN.COVENT.GARDEN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = V.M.M. (triad of initials in Roman capitals).
Covent Garden lies in the London borough of Camden, and City of Westminster, having formerly been part of Middlesex.
