The Five Bells
Edward Pinckethman issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the Five Bells tavern in Clerkenwell Close, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 664; Obv inscription: EDWARD.PINCKETHMAN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = five bells (in field); Rev inscription: IN.CLERKENWELL.CLOSE.68 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY / E.A.P. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
