The White Swan
Richard Hammond, a grocer, issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business next to the White Swan tavern, near Charing Cross, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 545; Obv inscription: NEXT.TO.YE.WHIT.SWAN.IN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = RICH 1662 (in two lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: NEAR.CHEARING.CROS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HAMM / OND / GROCER (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
