Christ
Pilgrim badge in the form of a crucifix from an unknown shrine. This badge depicts Christ on a cross which has a very short upper limb. He has a halo around his head and wears a loin cloth. The cross is decorated with pairs of trefoils at the ends of the horizontal bar. Before the Reformation in the 16th century, every church had a large crucifix, known as a rood, on display. Some roods were associated with miracles and became the focus for pilgrimages.
