Fox preaching to geese
Incomplete secular badge depicting a fox preaching to geese. This badge may depict the medieval proverb 'When the fox preaches, beware your geese'. On a complete badge, the fox, leaning on a staff and dressed as a monk, stands in a polygonal pulpit, while geese stand around listening. It is a satirical badge commenting on hypocrisy in the church and also symbolises the way in which the Devil can trap unsuspecting souls.
