The Crossed Keys
Samuel Hoare issued this trade token, worth a half penny, at the sign of the Cross Keys in Bedford Street, Covent Garden, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 158; Obv inscription: SAMVELL. HOARE. AT. THE. CROSS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Two keys crossed (in field); Rev inscription: IN.BEDFORD.STREET COVENT GARD (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = S.G.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
