Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; late 15th century
Bundle of arrows; Arthur, Prince of Wales
Retainers and household servants wore distinctive badges to identify themselves as being attached or beholden to a particular lord or even to the king himself. This badge depicts a bundle of arrows tied at the waist by a buckled belt. Two of the arrows have blunt ends and three have barbed heads typical of those used for hunting in the late medieval period. Wearing this badge would show your allegiance and loyalty to Arthur, Prince of Wales (1486-1502), brother of Henry VIII.
