Livery badge in the form of the ragged staff of the Earls of Warwick. Supporters of the noble families fighting for power during the Wars of the Roses wore badges to show their allegiance. In 1458 Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick (known as the 'Kingmaker'), returned from Calais and arrived in London with 600 men wearing embroidered ragged staff badges. Londoners who supported him may have worn pewter badges like this one.
