Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; 15th century
Swan; Bohun
This is a livery badge and was worn as a form of allegiance to the family or individual the badge represented. Several families (e.g. the Tonys and the Bohuns) used the symbol of the swan, most famously descendants of the House of Lancaster after the marriage of Mary Bohun to Henry Bollingbroke, the future Henry IV.
