Plastering and decorating would have been important crafts, since even the humblest of dwellings were plastered inside and out and painted walls were an essential part of the decor. The vast majority of painted work was basic and mainly consisted of simple panel designs but finely decorated wall paintings provide evidence for highly-skilled wall painters.6
