Post-Medieval — 16th century
Crucifix; Christ crucified
Small pendant in the form of a crucifix with Christ on the cross. There is a suspension loop above the cross. This was found on the site of the Franciscan Greyfriars near Newgate. It was one of the largest and most splendid buildings in London. When the friars came to England in the mid-1200s they were admired for their piety and vows of poverty. People later noticed just how wealthy the friaries had become.
