Marlin spike
An iron marlin spike from the workshop of Davey & Co., ship chandlers, West India Dock Road, Tower Hamlets. Marlin spikes were used for untwisting the strands of heavy rope. This example has a hole for a lanyard so that the rigger could hang to tool round his neck while he worked.
