Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of the Roman Republic. The coin depicts the Roman goddess Juno, protector and patron goddess of Rome. This coin was minted under the authority of the moneyer, L. Papius, in Rome, Italy, 78-77 BC.
Obv: Head of Juno of Sospita, facing right, wearing a goat's skin, with a bucket behind her head. Rev: A griffin, advancing right. With a wind-skin below. Rev inscription: L PAPI in exergue. Part of a hoard from the site of Temple House, Queen Victoria Street, City of London, 1958.
