Coin copy, radiate
A copper alloy contemporary copy of a Roman radiate coin (barbarous radiate), possibly of Emperor Claudius II, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 268-270. The back of the coin depicts an altar. This coin was made c. AD 275-285.
Obv: Radiate head, facing right. Obv inscription: DIVO C... . Rev: An altar. Rev inscription: CONSECRATIO. Part of a hoard from Newgate Street, City of London. This coin may be genuine.
