Coin copy, radiate
A copper alloy contemporary copy of a Roman radiate coin (barbarous radiate) of Emperor Gallienus, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 253-268. The back of the coin depicts Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was made c. AD 275-285.
Obv: Radiate head of Gallienus, facing right. Obv inscription: ...NVS AV[G] . Rev: Victoria, standing left, holding a palm in her left hand. Rev inscription: Illegible. Part of a hoard from Newgate Street, City of London.
