A copper alloy nummus of Emperor Valentinian I, ruler of the Western Roman Empire, AD 364-375. The back of the coin depicts the emperor. This coin was minted in Lugdunum (modern day Lyon, France), AD 364-378.
Obv: Draped, cuirassed and diademed bust of Valentinian, facing right. Obv inscription: [DN VALENTINI]ANVS P F AVG. Rev: The emperor, advancing right, dragging a captive with his right hand and holding a labarum (a military standard depicting the Chi-Rho) in the left. Rev inscription: [GLORIA] ROMANORVM, O FII in field, LVGSP in exergue.
