Coin, nummus
A copper alloy nummus of the House of Constantine, the ruling dynasty of the Roman Empire, AD 306-364. The back of the coin depicts Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was minted in AD 330-337.
Obv: Cuirassed and helmeted bust of Constantinopolis, facing left, holding a spear over the left shoulder and possibly a shield in the right hand. Obv inscription: CONSTANTINOPOLIS. Rev: Victory, standing left on the prow of a ship, holding a sceptre in her right hand and a resting her left hand on a shield. Rev inscription: Illegible.
