Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Maximinus Thrax, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 235-238. The back of the coin depicts Pax, the Roman goddess of peace. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 236-238.
Obv: Draped, cuirassed and laureate bust of Maximinus Thrax, facing right. Obv inscription: MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG GERM. Rev: Pax, standing left, holding a branch in her right hand and a transverse sceptre in the left. Rev inscription: PAX AVGVSTI. This coin may be part of a hoard from Lime Street, City of London.
