Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Maximinus Thrax, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 235-238. The back of the coin depicts Providentia, the female personification of foreseeing. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 235-236.
Obv: Draped, cuirassed and laureate bust of Maximinus Thrax, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG. Rev: Providentia, standing left, holding a wand over a globe in her right hand and a cornucopia in the left. Rev inscription: PROVIDENTIA AVG. This coin may be part of a hoard from Lime Street, City of London.
