Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Severus Alexander, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 222-235. The back of the coin depicts Liberalitas, the female personification of generosity. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 228-231.
Obv: Laureate head of Severus Alexander, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP SEV ALEXAND AVG. Rev: Liberalitas, standing left, holding an abacus in her right hand and a cornucopia in the left. Rev inscription: LIBERALITAS AVG IIII. This coin may be part of a hoard from Lime Street, City of London.
