Coin, denarius
A base silver denarius coin of Emperor Septimius Severus, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 193-211. The back of the coin depicts Liberalitas, the female personification of generosity. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 209.
Obv: Laureate head of Septimius Severus, facing right. Obv inscription: SEVERVS PIVS AVG. Rev: Liberalitas, standing front, head left, holding an abacus in her right hand and a cornucopia in the left. Rev inscription: LIBERALITAS AVG VI. This coin may be part of a hoard from Lime Street, City of London.
