Coin, as
A copper alloy as coin of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 161-180. This coin depicts Marcus Aurelius as Caesar (Crown Prince), a position he held under Antoninus Pius, AD 138-161. The back of the coin depicts Mars, the Roman god of war. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 154-155.
Obv: Draped, bare-headed bust of Marcus Aurelius, facing right. Obv inscription: AVRELIVS CAE[SAR AVG PII FIL]. Rev: Mars, naked except for a cloak, advancing right, holding a transverse sceptre in his right hand and carrying a trophy over his left shoulder with the left. Rev inscription: TR POT VIIII COS II, SC in field.
