Coin, dupondius
A copper alloy dupondius coin of Emperor Domitian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 81-96. The back of the coin depicts Virtus, the personification of courage and bravery. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 87.
Obv: Radiate head of Domitian, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM COS XII CE[NS PER PP]. Rev: Virtus, standing right, holding a vertical spear in his right hand and a parazonium (dagger) in the left. Rev inscription: VIRTVTI AVGVSTI, SC in field.
