Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Vespasian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 69-79. The back of the coin depicts Vespasian, Roma, the female personifcation of Rome and Minerva, the Roman goddess of arts, crafts and war. This coin was minted in AD 71.
Obv: Laureate head of Vespasian, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG PM TR P PP COS III. Rev: Vespasian, standing left, extending his right hand to a kneeling Roma, Minerva is standing behind him. Rev inscription: ROMA RESVRGES (sic), SC in exergue.
