Coin, denarius
A silver denarius coin of Emperor Vespasian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 69-79. The back of the coin depicts a Jewish woman. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 69-71.
Obv: Laureate head of Vespasian, facing right. Obv inscription: IM[P CAESAR] VESPASIANVS AVG. Rev: A mourning Jewish woman, sitting on the ground with a military trophy erected behind her. Rev inscription: IVDAEA in exergue. Part of a hoard from Queen Victoria Street City of London. Left uncleaned to show the condition of the hoard before cleaning.
