Playbill
Playbill announcing performances of the Christmas pantomime Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp and Midsummer Night's Dream at Royal Princess's Theatre, Oxford Street. The playbill is dated for the week commencing 29th December, 1856 and continuing through to Friday 2nd January 1857.
The cast list includes a very early performance by Miss Ellen Terry. Also performing in the pantomime was Miss Frances Ternan, who would later marry Thomas Adolphus Trollope and become a novelist. Ternan's younger sister Ellen Ternan was also an actress, and met Charles Dickens through her work in the theatre.
