Coin, dupondius
A copper alloy dupondius of Emperor Claudius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 41-54. The back of the coin depicts Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture and fertility. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 41-54.
Obv: Bare head of Claudius, facing left. Obv inscription: TI CLAV[DIVS] CAESAR AVG PM TR P IMP. Rev: Ceres, enthroned left, holding corn-ears in her right hand and a torch in her left. Rev inscription: [CER]ES [AVGVSTA], [SC] in field.
