Coin, radiate
A copper alloy radiate coin of Emperor Tetricus I, ruler of the Romano-Gallic Empire, AD 271-274. The back of the coin depicts Salus, the female personification of health. This coin was possibly minted in the Gallic Empire, unidentified mint I, AD 271-274.
Obv: Cuirassed and radiate bust of Tetricus I, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP... . Rev: Salus, standing left, holding an anchor/rudder in her left hand and feeding a serpent rising from an altar to the left from a patera (dish) held in her right hand. Rev inscription: [S]AL[VS] AVGG. Part of a hoard from Eastcheap, City of London, 1835 or 1838.
