A silver radiate coin of Emperor Valerian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 253-260. The back of the coin depicts Sol, the Roman sun god. This coin was minted in Gaul or Rome, AD 253-260.
Obv: Draped, radiate bust of Valerian, facing right. Obv inscription: [IMP C P LIC VALERIANVS P F A]VG. Rev: Sol, advancing left, with his right hand raised. Rev inscription: ORIENS AVGG. Part of a hoard from Fenchurch Street, City of London, 1926.
