Paintings, Prints & Drawings — 1996
A broker on the telephone
This image is part of Joan Robinson's 'City Men' project, a series of screen-prints looking at men in the City of London's finance industry.
Robinson was aged 60 when she began a degree course in fine art at Central St Martins College. Previously she had had a career in nursing.
In 1994, Robinson's powerful woodcuts won her an award. 'I think it is rather amusing', she commented, 'that I have won an award for "young artists" at the age of 64 years'.
