A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Trajan, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 98-117. The back of the coin depicts Providentia, the female personification of foreseeing. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 116-117.
Obv: Laureate bust of Trajan, facing right, left shoulder draped. Obv inscription: [IMP CAES NER TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER] DAC PARTHICO [PM TR P COS VI PP]. Rev: Providentia, standing left, leaning on a column, holding a sceptre in her left hand and pointing with her right hand towards a large globe by her feet. Rev inscription: [PROVIDENTIA AVGVSTI SPQR], [SC] in field.
