Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Vespasian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 69-79. The back of the coin depicts Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. This coin was minted in Rome, Italy, AD 71.
Obv: Laureate head of Vespasian, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG PM TR P PP COS III. Rev: Victory, standing right, leaning on a shield fixed to a palm tree, a mourning Jewish woman is sitting to the right. Rev inscription: VICTORIA AVGVSTI, SC in exergue.
