Coin, sestertius
A copper alloy sestertius coin of Emperor Vespasian, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 69-79. The back of the coin depicts Spes, the female personification of hope. This coin was minted in Tarraco (modern day Tarragona, Spain), AD 71.
Obv: Laureate head of Vespasian, facing right. Obv inscription: IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG PM TR P PP COS III. Rev: Spes, standing left, offering a flower to Vespasian, who is accompanied by his sons, Titus and Domitian. Rev inscription: SPES AVGVSTA, SC in exergue.
