A copper alloy as coin of Emperor Nero, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 54-68. The back of the coin depicts Nero. This coin was minted in Lugdunum (modern day Lyon, France), AD 64-68.
Obv: Bare head of Nero, facing right. Obv inscription: NERO [CLAVD CAESAR A]VG... . Rev: Nero, as Apollo, the Graeco-Roman god of medicine, healing, music, arts and prophecy, advancing right, holding a lyre. Rev inscription: PONTIF MAX..., SC in field. Countermarked with SPQR on the obverse. Part of a hoard form Cheapside, City of London.
