Coin copy, sestertius
A copper alloy contemporary copy of a sestertius coin of Emperor Claudius, ruler of the Roman Empire, AD 41-54. The back of the coin depicts Minerva, the Roman goddess of war, poetry, medicine, magic and crafts. This coin was made c. AD 41-54.
Obv: Bare head of Claudius, facing left. Obv inscription: [NERO CLA]VDIVS DRVSVS GERMANICVS [IMP]. Rev: Claudius, seated right on a curule chair, holding a branch in her right hand. Arms scattered beside chair, including spears, shields, cuirass and helmet. Rev inscription: TI CLAVDIVS [CAESAR] AVG PM TR P IMP, SC in exergue.
