Bone, pinner's bone
Pinner's bone. Bovine metatarsal, left side, proximal end. The shaft towards the distal end has been almost entirely faceted with five sides. There are eight deep grooves cut into the longitudinal axis by a saw, and file marks on every side. The holes at the proximal and distal ends have been enlarged.
