Bone, pinner's bone
Pinner's bone. Bovine metatarsal, left side, fused. The lateral and medial sides at the distal end have been shaved off. There are four facets at the proximal end of the shaft with deep grooves cut into the longitudinal axis. The bone has been heavily worked and has worn through. There are file marks on every side. Small foramen and an enlarged hole at the proximal end. Heavy copper staining in the medial, most heavily worked side.
