Post-Medieval — Tudor; 16th century
Costrel
Tin-glazed ware costrel. It has a narrow but tall cylinder neck bearing a flat rim at the top. Two handles spring from beneath the rim to the end almost at the broadest part of the belly. There are blue strokes one side of the neck. A brown bird is elegantly drawn in long crisp strokes, perched upon a yellow and brown corn ear. It has a hard white/pink ground, and is in perfect condition.
