Cup, caudle cup
Unmarked caudle cup. Date: mid – late 17th century.
Vessels of this general type were used for caudle, a hot, nourishing and sometimes spicy drink made from an emulsion of egg yolks, cream, ale or wine. Caudle was particularly popular in the 17th century.
