The Christening Procession of the Prince of Wales leaving Buckingham Palace
Albert Edward, Queen Victoria's eldest son, was born in 1841. He was the heir to the British throne and became Edward VII, King from 1901 until his death in 1910. As befitting the Prince of Wales, his christening took place at Buckingham Palace.
In this painting the procession is shown emerging from the forecourt of the Palace which can be seen on the left. The artist depicts the celebrations of the group of onlookers. Men wave their hats in the air while trumpets are blown by the Household Brigade on the right. Piccadilly is visible in the distance, beyond Green Park.
