Wonderful Museum
This print portrays two exceptionally short people. Dwarfism is a condition caused by a disorder which prevents the bones from developing fully. Although Lady Morgan is whimsically described as a 'celebrated...fairy', Thomas Allen's small stature is viewed as 'surprising'. The average height of Georgian Londoners was just over 5 feet 7 inches for a man and about 5 feet 2 inches for a woman.
