The Duke's Theatre in Dorset Gardens
Duke's Theatre, Dorset Gardens, from the river. Designed by Wren for the Duke of York's Men, it was situated in the gardens of Dorset House (burnt down in 1666) and opened in 1671; it is last recorded as a theatre in 1706 and was demolished in 1720 (though a modern plaque says 1709).
