Furnival's Inn, Holborn, Antiently the Mansion of the Lords Furnival
The frontage of Furnival's Inn on Holborn. Furnival's Inn was an Inn of Chancery from 1383 (when the fourth Lord Furnival leased it to law students) until Lincoln's Inn (who had acquired the freehold) declined to renew the lease in 1817. The Inn of Court was then dissolved and shortly afterwards the building was demolished - see C113, C359, Z431 etc. The replacement building took the same name but was demolished to allow for the extension of the Prudential Assurance building in 1897.
