Upton House near Stratford in Essex
Exterior view and grounds of Upton House near Stratford in Essex. Later known as Ham House, from 1762-80 owned by Dr John Fothergill, a Quaker philanthropist and botanist. Bought by Samuel Gurney, banker in 1812, brother of Elizabeth Fry. The house was demolished in 1872, and the park became West Ham Park.
