Printed Ephemera — 1845-1870
Tinsel ornament
Fifty six small, empty boxes previously used to store pre-stamped metal foil tinsel ornaments for decorating theatrical tinsel portraits. The boxes are of card covered in red paper. Most have an example of the contents previously stored within applied to a paper label stuck to the lid. Each box would contain a different shape or ornament. Used by Jonathan King as part of his shop stock, the ornaments would be sold individually or as part of a set for tinselling portraits at home.
